The Open Championship is the oldest of the four men's major golf championships and is considered one of the most prestigious events in the sport. The tournament was first played in 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. It is now played on a rotating basis at several of the most famous golf courses in the United Kingdom.
Royal Liverpool Golf Club has hosted the Open Championship nine times, most recently in 2014. The course is a par 72 and measures 7,322 yards. It is known for its challenging layout and its fast and firm greens.
The field for the 2024 Open Championship is expected to include the world's top golfers. Some of the favorites include Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Patrick Cantlay.
